At least 23 people are dead in the Northern California firestorm.  Most of the deaths have come in Sonoma County, where whole towns have been evacuated and some 3,500 homes and businesses have been destroyed.  Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano said there are still 285 people on their missing list, but more than 300 originally on the list have been accounted for.  

There are 22 fires burning across California, scorching more than 170,000 acres.
